Ladybugs Garden and Gift Shoppe is a love story. It is the story behind a father whose life was cut too short and his 4 year old baby girl. It is a love story about the daughter of that little girl and plants. It is the love story about that daughter and her love for Kernersville and an old 125 year old building and the gentlemen, Wayne McDonald and Wayne Covert, that have also given their hearts to refurbish that building and bring it back to life. And finally it is the love story behind that daughter and her devoted husband and his desire to make her dream of owning a little garden shoppe come true!
Ladybugs Garden and Gift Shoppe is named after my mother, Elizabeth Ann “Ladybug” Simser. Her Father passed away five days after she turned four and she and her seven older siblings grew up in Barium Springs Orphanage. My mother lived at the orphanage for 14 years. The only thing she really remembered about her Daddy was that he called her “Ladybug”. I lost my Mother in February 2002. This shoppe is lovingly dedicated to my Mama and my wonderful husband, Arnold.
